Anniversary Sunday

The Union Cross Moravian Church Family extends a warm welcome to our pastors and their families who join us today. We are blessed to be in their presence and rejoice that they share in our joy and excitement. Worshipping with us today is;

Rev. Lewis Swaim and his wife Eleanor, Rev. John Kapp and his wife Louise, Bishop Robert Iobst and his daughter Cindy Jones, Rev. Richard Shamel and his wife June,and Rev. James Doss and his wife Susan.

The Union Cross Congregation thanks each of you for being a part of our lives and for joining us in this celebration of the Lord’s Work here at Union Cross through these many years.

Rev. Lewis Swaim

Rev. Swaim became a Deacon on June 5, 1955 and a Presbyter on August 26, 1962. He began his service in ministry at Union Cross Moravian in June 1955 and was with us until July 1959. He currently resides in Clemmons, NC.

Rev. John Kapp

Rev. Kapp became a Deacon on August 31, 1941 and a Presbyter on June 29, 1947. He was with us from November 1959 until Feb. 1971. Rev. Kapp now resides in Pfafftown, NC and serves a couple of Sunday’s a month at Willow Hill.

Bishop Robert Iobst

Bishop Iobst became a Deacon on November 12, 1939, a Presbyter on May 25, 1947 and a Bishop on May 21, 1989. He served with us here at Union Cross from June 1978 till July 1983. He now resides in Winston-Salem, NC and currently teaches Sunday School at New Philadelphia Moravian and will preach on occasion when needed.

Rev. Don Griffin

Rev. Griffin became a Deacon on August 14, 1983 and a Presbyter on August 14, 1988. He served at Union Cross from 1983 until 1990. After serving at Bethabara Moravian for 13 years he returned to Union Cross in May 2003 where he is currently serving.

Rev. Jack Nance

Rev. Nance became a Deacon on June 27, 1965 and a Presbyter on February 11, 1973. He served at Union Cross Moravian from September 1991 until he retired in August 1996. He currently lives in Winston-Salem, NC and is pastoring at Community Fellowship in Welcome and also serves as the Chaplain at Bryan Center in Winston-Salem. Rev. Nance and his wife Vera will be joining us next Sunday for the Anniversary Lovefeast.

Rev. Richard Shamel

Rev. Shamel became a Deacon on August 1, 1954 and  Presbyter on May 1, 1960. He served as an interim pastor here from September 1996 through December 1996. He now resides in Winston-Salem, NC and serves in the pulpit as interim when he is needed.

Rev. James Doss

Rev. Doss was ordained in the Baptist church on January 4, 1975. He became a Deacon in the Moravian church on March 1, 1998 and a Presbyter March 3, 2003. Rev. Doss served at Union Cross from December 1996 until January 2003. He currently lives in Charlotte, NC and pastors at Peace Moravian.

Rev. Henry May

Rev. May became a Deacon on June 23, 1963 and a Presbyter on April 25, 1971. He served as an interim pastor at Union Cross Moravian from January 2003 until May 2003. He is currently living in Yadkinville, NC.
